Ultrasounds
We provide comprehensive ultrasound services including both cardiac and abdominal ultrasound for pets in Toronto and nearby areas. Our licensed sonographer captures video clips and still images during the procedure.
Similar to human medicine practices, all imaging results are sent to a board-certified specialist for thorough evaluation. Each case submitted includes complete patient history and laboratory findings, ensuring the specialist receives a comprehensive overview of the situation.

Radiographs
When diagnosing your pet's health issues, we regularly employ radiographs to pinpoint and rule out potential problems. This diagnostic tool helps us identify underlying causes effectively.
During routine wellness exams, we might suggest radiographs to detect any emerging issues before they escalate. All radiographs are reviewed by a board-certified radiologist to ensure expert evaluation. In some cases, mild sedation may be necessary to facilitate the procedure.

Heartworm & Tickbourne Disease Testing
We send out the bloodwork for heartworm testing to an outside lab, and results typically come in the next day.
Accuplex TestingFor pets exposed to ticks, we recommend a more comprehensive test called Accuplex. This screening covers Lyme disease, heartworm, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma (tick-borne diseases). Accuplex testing is conducted at our external laboratory and typically yields results within 24 hours.
Even if your pet is on Flea and Tick prevention, we advise testing for Lyme disease if they have been exposed to ticks, as a precautionary measure.
Heartworm PreventionMosquitoes can transmit heartworm infection to dogs and cats, causing severe damage to the heart, lungs, and blood vessels. Some pets may not display symptoms, while others may experience coughing, fatigue, weight loss, difficulty breathing, or a swollen abdomen due to fluid accumulation from heart failure.
In dogs, heartworm disease can progress to "caval syndrome," a life-threatening liver condition. Cats, though less susceptible, can also contract heartworms, leading to respiratory distress resembling asthma or bronchitis.
Treatment for heartworm infection is costly and can be fatal for dogs, with no approved treatment available for cats. Prevention through monthly medications is highly recommended, offering protection not only against heartworms but also against other parasites like roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, ear mites, fleas, and ticks.
