Routine Wellness

Ensure your pet stays healthy with routine wellness care at Derry Village Animal Clinic. Regular exams and vaccinations are crucial because dogs and cats age faster than people, making it possible for their health to change rapidly.

Wellness exams are essential for early detection of diseases and conditions, improving treatment outcomes. By ensuring your pet receives proper vaccinations and preventives, we can often prevent diseases altogether.

Healthy adult dogs and cats should visit us annually. Puppies, kittens, senior pets, and those with health issues require more frequent check-ups. We'll collaborate with you to develop a personalized wellness program, including vaccinations and preventive care, tailored to your pet's needs.

Call us today at (905) 670-1414 to schedule your pet’s wellness exam and ensure they live a healthy, happy life!

Thank you for choosing us to help care for your new family member.

Puppy Vaccination Schedule

Puppies require a series of vaccinations during their first four months of life. They initially receive antibodies from their mother’s milk, which protect them but can interfere with vaccinations. Therefore, vaccinations are administered in a series starting at 6-8 weeks of age, with boosters given at 12 and 16 weeks.

  • DA2PP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza): Given at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks. Boosters are needed yearly.

  • Rabies: Given at 16 weeks of age and requires yearly boosters.

  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough Vaccine): Given once annually, recommended for puppies in contact with others of unknown vaccination status.

  • Leptospirosis Vaccine: Given in two doses, initially and then 3-4 weeks later, followed by yearly boosters.

  • Lyme Vaccine: Given in two doses initially, then yearly, recommended for puppies in high-risk areas.

Our puppy wellness program is designed to set your puppy on a path to a long and healthy life. The early months are crucial for development, and we provide support and tools for nutrition, training, behavior, and socialization.

Schedule your puppy's first exam promptly to begin vaccinations. Until fully vaccinated, puppies are vulnerable to preventable diseases like rabies, distemper, and parvovirus. We also test and treat for common parasites, such as roundworms, which can affect both your puppy's health and your family's.

We're eager to meet your new puppy!  Call us today at (905) 670-1414 to schedule your first appointment and continue the comprehensive care started by your breeder.

Adult/Senior Wellness

Regular checkups at Derry Village Animal Clinic are crucial for ensuring the health and happiness of your pets. These visits are not just routine; they are vital for early detection of diseases, which can significantly improve your pet's prognosis and extend their quality of life.

Pets, like humans, can hide signs of illness well, making it easy to miss subtle changes in their health or behavior. Some diseases may not show symptoms until they are advanced, highlighting the importance of regular checkups for timely intervention.

Our pets age faster than we do, underscoring the need for regular exams to monitor conditions such as arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and more, which become increasingly common with age.
During your pet’s wellness exam at Derry Village Animal Clinic, we perform a thorough physical assessment from nose to tail. We ensure your pet receives tailored vaccinations and preventives based on their individual needs and lifestyle. Additionally, we may recommend diagnostic tests like blood, fecal, and urine analyses to screen for parasites and underlying diseases. Dental care is also integral to our holistic approach to maintaining your pet's overall health.

As your pet enters their senior years, establishing a baseline through diagnostic workups becomes even more important. This enables us to monitor changes over time and provide proactive care to support their health and well-being. Your insights as a pet owner are invaluable to us. Please share any physical or behavioral changes you've observed, as well as any concerns you may have about your pet's health.

Call us today at (905) 670-1414 to schedule your pet’s comprehensive wellness exam at Derry Village Animal Clinic. Our compassionate team is here to address any questions you have about our adult wellness program and provide the best care for your furry family member.
